About Me

Galveston Gardening
I’m Don Wilkerson, Professor Emeritus from Texas A&M University's Department of Horticultural Sciences. Perhaps of greater importance, I’ve been living and gardening in Galveston since June of 2008. Shortly after arriving, I created the Galveston Gardening blog. In the months/years that followed, GG provided info on personal gardening experiences, challenges and, of course, the occasional failure (always the best learning opportunities). In 2013 I finally ran out of gas and GG went into deep hibernation. Since that time several people have asked about GG, wanted more info and prodded me to get it up and going again. With the help of OLLI, we hope to get GG moving again – at least through February! The goal of GG will continue to be providing information on landscape gardening topics, events and activities for the Texas Upper Gulf Coast area. ALL with a HEALTHY SENSE OF HUMOR and FUN!!! Because after all - that's what coastal gardening is about.
